Palworld Review: A Mixed Bag of Survival, Crafting, and Monster Catching

A screenshot of the Palworld game

Introduction

A Survival Adventure with a Twist Palworld is not your typical survival game. It is a game that combines crafting, building, exploring, and fighting with a twist: you can do all of these things with the help of cute and colorful creatures called Pals. Pals are more than just pets; they are your partners, your friends, and your tools. You can catch them, train them, ride them, fly with them, swim with them, and fight with them. You can also use them for crafting, building, farming, and even eating. Yes, you read that right. You can eat your Pals, or use them as ammo, shields, or distractions. Palworld is a game that does not shy away from the dark and absurd side of survival, and that is what makes it so fun and unpredictable.

Palworld offers different modes and features to suit different play styles and preferences. In story mode, players can follow a narrative, complete quests, explore dungeons, and face bosses. In survival mode, players need to gather resources, craft items, build bases, and fend off enemies. Players can also create their own challenges, such as Palworld Challenge Runs, where they set their own rules or limitations, such as using only one Pal, or moving their base every day. Additionally, the game has achievements, which reward players for accomplishing certain tasks or milestones in the game.

Palworld Eggstravaganza: How to Collect, Breed, Hatch, and Evolve Your Pals

  • Eggs are items that you can find or breed in Palworld, and they contain different types of Pals inside. There are nine types of eggs, each corresponding to one of the nine elements in the game: Common, Damp, Dark, Dragon, Electric, Frozen, Rocky, Scorching, and Verdant. The type of egg determines the element of the Pal that will hatch from it. For example, a Scorching Egg will hatch a Fire-type Pal, and a Damp Egg will hatch a Water-type Pal.
  • Eggs also have different sizes, which indicate the rarity of the Pal inside. There are three sizes of eggs: Regular, Large, and Huge. Regular eggs contain common Pals, Large eggs contain rare Pals, and Huge eggs contain very rare Pals. The size of the egg also affects the incubation time, which is the time it takes for the egg to hatch. Regular eggs take the shortest time, Large eggs take longer, and Huge eggs take the longest.
  • You can find eggs in the wild, in nests or hidden places, or you can breed them in your Breeding Farm. To breed an egg, you need a male and a female Pal of the same species, or of compatible species. You can check the compatibility of Pals by using the Palworld Breeding Calculator1. When you breed two Pals, you will get an egg that has the same element as one of the parents, or a hybrid element if the parents have different elements. For example, if you breed a Fire-type Pal and a Water-type Pal, you will get a Steam-type egg, which is a hybrid of Fire and Water.
  • To hatch an egg, you need to place it in an Egg Incubator, which is a machine that provides the optimal temperature and humidity for the egg. You can find Egg Incubators in your Base, or in some other locations. You can also craft your own Egg Incubator with the right materials. When you place an egg in an Egg Incubator, you will see a timer that shows how long it will take for the egg to hatch. You can speed up the process by using some items, such as the Egg Incubator Booster or the Egg Incubator Accelerator.

When the egg hatches, you will get a new Pal that you can name, feed, train, and bond with. You can also check the stats, skills, and traits of your new Pal by using the Pal Scanner. Some Pals can evolve into stronger forms when they reach a certain level, or when they meet certain conditions. You can check the evolution paths of Pals by using the Palworld Evolution Chart2.

Here are some tips for training Pals:

Training pals is an important aspect of Palworld, as it allows you to improve the stats, skills, and traits of your Pals, and make them stronger for battles, exploration, and crafting.

  • You can train your Pals by using the Training Machine, which is a device that you can craft or find in some locations. The Training Machine lets you assign different exercises to your Pals, such as running, jumping, punching, etc. Each exercise will increase a specific stat of your Pal, such as HP, ATK, DEF, SPD, etc. You can also use items, such as the Training Booster or the Training Accelerator, to speed up the training process.
  • You can also train your Pals by battling with other Pals, either in the wild or in arenas. Battling will not only increase your Pal’s stats, but also their skills and traits. Skills are special abilities that your Pal can use in combat, such as Fire Blast, Water Wave, Earthquake, etc. Traits are passive effects that your Pal has, such as Fire Resistance, Water Absorb, Earth Force, etc. You can check the skills and traits of your Pals by using the Pal Scanner.
  •  You can also train your Pals by bonding with them, which is a way of increasing your friendship and trust with your Pals. Bonding with your Pals will make them happier, more loyal, and more obedient. You can bond with your Pals by feeding them, petting them, playing with them, or giving them gifts. You can also bond with your Pals by using the Bonding Machine, which is a device that you can craft or find in some locations. The Bonding Machine lets you interact with your Pals in various ways, such as talking, singing, dancing, etc. You can also use items, such as the Bonding Booster or the Bonding Accelerator, to speed up the bonding process.

Building a base in Palworld is a fun and rewarding activity that allows you to customize your own home, store your resources, and protect yourself from enemies.

  • First, you need to craft a Palbox, which is the core of your base. You need one Paldium Fragment, eight Wood and three Stone to craft a Palbox. You can find these materials by exploring the world, mining rocks, chopping trees, or looting chests.
  •  Second, you need to find a suitable location for your base. You can also check out some of the best base locations that we recommend.
  •  Third, you need to place your Palbox at your chosen location. You can do this by opening your inventory, selecting the Palbox, and clicking on the ground where you want to place it. You will see a blue ring around the area, indicating the radius of your base. You can also move your Palbox later if you want to change your location.
  •  Fourth, you need to start building your base structures. You can do this by using the  Workbench, which is a device that you can craft or find in some locations. The Workbench lets you craft various items and structures, such as walls, floors, roofs, doors, windows, beds, chests, lights, etc. You can also use the Pal Scanner to check the stats, skills, and traits of your Pals, and assign them to different tasks, such as mining, farming, crafting, or defending your base.
  •  Fifth, you need to upgrade your base and your Pals. You can do this by using the Pal Distillation Pod, which is a device that you can craft or find in some locations. The Pal Distillation Pod lets you rank up your Pals, which increases their stats and unlocks new skills and traits. You can also use the Ancient Technology Statue of Power, which is a device that you can find in some locations. The Ancient Technology Statue of Power lets you upgrade your base level, which increases the number of Pals and structures you can have in your base.
